Upcoming Events: 2008-2009 School Year
March- This month our class will be exploring farm animals, their babies, and comparing farms to cities. We will continue to work on digraphs (th, ch, sh, ck, and wh), and continue working on decoding CVC words. In Math, the students will continue to work on positional words. This is a tough concept for many students, so please reinforce these skill at home. After we finish up positional words, I will introduce adding quantities.
Feburary- In math we will work on positional words and counting by twos, fives, and tens. In Language Arts, we will continue with our daily handwriting practice. We will also introduce digraphs. We finished our Pizza patterns, and will celebrate with a pizza party!!!
January- January we will explore the winter season. We will discuss snow and animals that live in snow. We will finish up with our patterns (ABB, AABB, and ABC). We will continue to work on uppercase letters D, B, and P. Finally, we will continue to practice sounding out CVC words and improving our phonemic awareness.
December 2008- For December we will focus on learning new holiday vocabulary. In Math we will learn ABAB, AAB, ABB patterns using pizza toppings!! We will continue to practice writing capital letters, we will introduce D and P. In cooking we will make a holiday shake and Christmas tree. Parents are invited for a holiday carry-in Tuesday December 16th at 2:50. Students will watch a school meeting the 19th. Mrs. Ramsay will be out the 17th and 19th.
