Dear Wayne Families and Friends,
Welcome to 2021 and the second semester of an uncertain school year to say the least. Although there has been uncertainty, we remain steadfast in our continued commitment to academic excellence, innovative practices and inclusive excellence.
The beginning of a “new year” is a time of reflection and a time for possible, if not needed, change. I recognize that for many it is an exciting time: seniors are in their last semester of school and are looking forward to graduation; juniors are preparing for their first prom; and athletes are excited for winter and spring sport competitions. I also recognize that because of the current culture and climate in our nation/world, it is a time filled with concern and fear for many. The majority of that concern is directly related to the COVID19 virus and whether or not to send your student back to the building on January 19th.
Making the decision to return to the school building or continue with remote learning can be a difficult one. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has provided more recent information on their webpage where you can assess the risks and needs of you student(s) to determine which learning format is the best option for your family. You can access it here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/decision-tool.html
Once you have made a decision, please take a quick moment to fill out the form (by Friday, January 8th) found here: https://forms.gle/5FZYdLJiBo7gGeo66
This will help us plan to keep students and staff as safe as possible upon our return.
Regardless of the choice made, we can guarantee that we will continue to work tirelessly towards academic excellence, social and emotional health and physical safety for our Wayne students. I look forward to working with you to do so.
Yours in Education,
Ms. Wendy Bridges
Wayne High School Principal
