Weisenborn Students Compete & Advance In Power Of The Pen Competition

power of the pen competitorsFebruary 6th, 2019 – Valery Cooper, a seventh grade Weisenborn Junior High student, is advancing to the Regional Qualifying round for the Power of the Pen competition. She will compete at Wittenberg University in March to qualify for state competition at the College of Wooster.


Cooper and her other Warrior Writer teammates made an impressive finish in the Western Region competition at West Carrollton Middle School. Competition consisted of students completing three rounds of creative writing prompts in 40 minutes. Those creative writing prompts are then judged by local teachers and Power of the Pen volunteers.


The Power of the Pen is an interscholastic creative writing program for middle schools in Ohio.
