June 10th, 2019 – A Wayne High School student is participating in an intensive educational program about Ohio government for high school students. Leonardo Howard Jr. is one of the rising seniors selected by the American Legion Post #776 to participate in Buckeye Boys State.

Buckeye Boys State is an eight-day hands-on experience in operation of democratic forms of government, organization of political parties, and each’s relationship in shaping Ohio government. Rising seniors learn about city, county, and state government through a non-partisan and objective educational approach.

Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, and assemblies. All participants are rising high school seniors selected by their local American Legion post. This year’s program will be held at Miami University in Oxford from June 9-16.
