On March 27-29,2020 at Dublin Scioto High School over 30 Wayne High School students will perform, crew, direct, and attend workshops and performances. More than 40 schools will be attending along with Wayne. Colleges will be recruiting for their respective theatre programs. Scholarships and grants will be awarded at the end of the Ohio State Thespian Conference. Some WHS students may go on to compete nationally at the International Thespian Society Festival in Bloomington, Indiana in June. Before state begins, these students also will have performed locally at the Ohio Educational Theatre Association Southwest Conference on December 14,2019. Wayne High School students will direct, crew, and perform two One-Act plays, participate in the planning of the conference in leadership roles, (STARs) Student Thespian Area Representatives, and conduct workshops for schools attending. This is the largest group of Wayne High School students to ever participate in these conferences. The WHS theatre program has expanded from 17 inducted thespians in 2015 to over 50 inducted by spring 2020. The Weisenborn junior high Drama Club has launched with over 50 students participating and over 30 students able to be inducted as Thespians their freshmen year at Wayne High School. This is all made possible by the generous community members and businesses as well as the family and administrators who support the Arts.
